In the summer of 1975, a few months before the end of the Spanish dictatorship, public opinion was shocked by a violent crime on the Andalusian estate of Los Galindos. Five people, all from a humble working-class background, were brutally murdered. Despite various theories, the murderer was never identified: the case was closed on the hypothesis that one of them had committed the murder and then killed himself, but subsequent autopsies revealed the weakness of this version. The case finally became statute-barred in 1995 and remains unsolved to this day.
The series El marqués is set in 1977, when Onofre returns to his village to investigate the event that caused great division among the neighbours. His investigation leads him to explore different contexts and meet various characters, including the Marquis of Bahia, until he discovers how the crime was conceived.
